A Cincinnati man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred April 10, 2011 at about 4:25 p.m. The incident took place in the Village of Cleves in Hamilton County, in the 100 block of East State Street near Pontius Road.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the motorcyclist, who was traveling southbound on a 2005 Yamaha Classic, was struck by a northbound traveling 1998 Dodge Ram truck that veered left of the center line and struck the Yamaha. The man who was on the motorcycle was taken from the scene to Mercy Hospital Western Hills where treatment was attempted. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The truck continued off the west side of the road and overturned after the collision, say officials. Inside the truck were a 29-year-old male driver and female passenger plus six children ranging from 4-months to 14-years-old. The children were taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center where they were subsequently treated and released after being pulled from the window of the truck. The driver and passenger were uninjured in the accident.

Neighbors who live in the area state that while the accident is sad, it is not a surprise. The road that the two vehicles were traveling on is winding, and it is not uncommon for vehicles to leave their lanes accidentally. Due to the road conditions, the speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour.

With an accident like this, both criminal charges and a civil lawsuit for wrongful death are possible. The fatal accident is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit and cause has yet to be determined. No criminal charges have yet been filed.
