Whenever a motorcycle accident happens, the potential for serious personal injuries is very high. Last week, a married couple suffered injuries and needed to be rushed to the hospital as the result of a motorcycle accident involving an Ohio driver. The 50-year-old man and his wife were riding on their motorcycle when they hit a vehicle making a left-hand turn onto the highway. Neither the husband nor the wife were wearing motorcycle safety helmets.

All too often, motorcycle accidents happen when a driver does not see the motorcyclist. Often times, car and truck drivers will attempt to blame the motorcyclist for causing the accident or for not being seen. In this case, the driver told officers that he had stopped at the intersection and then eased forward to make his turn before the accident.

Police investigating the accident at the scene reported no skid marks from the motorcycle on the pavement. It is believed the motorcycle had been slowing down at the time of the crash.

The husband was first transported to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. He was later airlifted by helicopter to the University Hospital in Cincinnati and was released the next day following treatment. His wife was airlifted from the scene by helicopter also to the University Hospital in Cincinnati where she underwent surgery to repair injuries sustained in the accident.

The 47-year-old driver and his passengers were not injured. The driver of the vehicle received a citation for failing to yield the right-of-way.
