When a large commercial vehicle causes an accident with smaller cars, the consequences can be deadly. Because of the large difference in size and weight between these types of vehicles, drivers and passengers inside of smaller vehicles often experience the brunt of the damage in a truck accident.

When a truck accident happens, experienced personal injury attorneys understand the importance of conducting a thorough investigation. In addition to providing information on how the accident happened, truck accident investigations can help establish who is legally responsible for causing the accident. In addition to the truck driver, the truck company, the maintenance company or the owners of the cargo can be legally responsible for the accident under certain circumstances.

Last Friday, a truck accident happened in Ohio that will likely require a thorough investigation. According to police investigators, the truck accident happened at the intersection of Needmore Road and Old Troy Pike. The truck was apparently turning right onto Old Troy Pike when the driver lost control of his tanker truck.

First, the truck struck a car that was waiting at a red light. Then, the truck flipped over that vehicle and landed on a third vehicle, killing the driver of the third vehicle. The driver of the first car to be hit escaped serious injury. The truck driver was sent to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries that were considered to not be life threatening.

Authorities are investigating what caused the accident, and they have stated that they believe speed may have been a factor in causing the fatal accident.
